Aurora police have secured a burglary charge through the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office on a 44-year-old Aurora man in connection with the Feb. 13 break in of a West Side restaurant.

Christopher M. Sullivan of the 1300 block of Hinckley Street is being held in the Kane County Correctional Center in St. Charles in lieu of $125,000 bond stemming from the burglary of La Cabana Restaurant in the 800 block of South River Street. Investigators say that Sullivan is also a suspect in numerous other burglaries that have occurred at businesses inside and outside of Aurora and they expect charges to be filed in at least some of those crimes in the coming weeks.

The burglary for which he is charged occurred at around 10:10 p.m. Feb. 13 and involved Sullivan and another unknown accomplice smashing through the glass front door of the restaurant. They proceeded to allegedly steal liquor, cash and electronics worth about $1,145.

Police officers came across Sullivan on Feb. 18 on an unrelated call in the 600 block of Wilder Street. During a conversation with a patrol officer, he allegedly made statements about several business burglaries in the city. Police interviewed him, launched a full-scale investigation, secured the charges in the La Cabana incident and established him as a suspect in the other cases. Police continue to work leads in their attempt to identify other possible accomplices.

The second suspect in the La Cabana burglary was described as a white male, 5-foot-8-inches tall, 170 pounds, wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, gloves and a striped baseball cap.
