The deadline to apply for the Paul D. Pierotti Memorial Scholarship has been extended to Friday, March 18. The scholarship is awarded to area students with an interest in working in the environmental field and who are associated with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County or The Conservation Foundation.

The scholarship is awarded to eligible students from DuPage, Kane, Kendall, or Will counties.

2015 Pierotti Scholarship Winners(1)Former Forest Preserve District of DuPage County President D. “Dewey” Pierotti, Jr. and his wife Leslie, established the Paul D. Pierotti Memorial Scholarship in 2006 in memory of their late son Paul, a budding conservationist. The family said the scholarship is a fitting tribute to their son, helping students who share his love for the outdoors to pursue a career in service of the environment.

The application is available to download from The Conservation Foundation’s website under Educating & Empowering>Youth>Scholarships. Applicants must be a volunteer or associated with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County or The Conservation Foundation, possess a 3.0 cumulative GPA, provide details of their academic achievement, and an outline of their participation in extracurricular activities. A written 350-word essay also is required on an environmental topic determined each year by the selection committee.
