Get Tickets Now for Premiere of Star-Studded ‘Precious Mettle,’ Shot in Aurora
VIP tickets already have sold out, but you can still get to see the March 22 premiere of Precious Mettle, the much-anticipated movie starring Paul Sorvino that was shot primarily in Aurora and Naperville.
The movie premieres at 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, at the Hollywood Palms in Naperville.
Dann Gire of the Daily Herald gives Precious Mettle three stars and says the movie “turns out to be a much smarter, more sincerely rendered crime melodrama than you might imagine for an ultra-independent production filmed and produced in Naperville and Aurora.”
‘Precious Mettle’ Storyline
In this new mystery, aging police commander Frank Walsh (Paul Sorvino) is close to retirement, 10 years after losing his wife and daughter in a tragic car crash. Facing retirement means facing further emptiness — until Frank suddenly learns that a troubled young woman, Judy, (Fiona Dourif) is his daughter from a past relationship.
Judy ran away at 16 to escape abuse from her stepfather, and since then, her life has spiraled downward into heroin addiction, panhandling and cynicism, especially toward men. She sees no hope for recovery, redemption or justice. Frank tries a risky method to help his new-found daughter get off the drugs. That same night, his best friend, Charlie, a retired cop, is murdered and his money and gold are taken. Frank must now find the killer, search for the missing gold, help Judy survive her demons and allow himself a second chance to be a father.
Yet Judy’s past comes back to haunt them, and Precious Mettle takes us on a twist and turn discovery of murder, motives and greed.
