Hillary Clinton won Illinois, but Bernie Sanders was the Democratic Party favorite in Kane County, according to March 15 General Primary election results posted by the Kane County Clerk’s Office and the Aurora Election Commission.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump won Illinois’ Republican primary, followed by Ted Cruz, John R. Kasich and Marco Rubio — and Kane County was a microcosm, with vote totals reflecting that same order of finish.

Did Kane County voters favor winners in the other federal races? Pretty much, with the exception of the 8th Congressional District.

Here’s a recap of which candidates Kane County voters liked best in contested races Tuesday. Scroll down for the combined vote totals from Kane County and the Aurora Election Commission.

Kane County voters liked Mark Kirk in the Republican primary and Tammy Duckworth on the Democratic side in their contested primary races for Illinois senator. Kirk defeated James T. Marter and Duckworth eclipsed Andrea Zopp and Napoleon Harris. Duckworth and Kirk won statewide, as well.

In the 6th Congressional District, Kane County voters went with Republican Peter J. Roskam over Gordon (Jay) Kinzler and Democrats picked Amanda Howland over Robert Marshall. Roskam and Howland won the district overall and will face off in the November election.

In the 8th Congressional District, Michael Noland was the Democratic favorite of Kane County voters but Raja Krishnamoorthi won his party’s nomination overall, defeating Noland and Deborah M. Bullwinkel. The lone Republican candidate in the 8th District is Peter “Pete” DiCianni .

In the 11th District congressional race, Democratic incumbent Bill Foster will try to hold serve against Republican Tonia Khouri, who won the Republican nomination overall and was the favorite in Kane County, over Herman B. White and Nick Stella.

In the 14th Congressional District, Republican incumbent Randy Hultgren will face off against Jim Walz, who was the top Democratic vote-getter in the primary in Kane County and the entire district, overcoming John J. Hosta and Jesse Maggitt.
