Leap Day Accident Takes Life of Plainfield Man
A 45-year-old Plainfield man died Monday (Feb. 29, 2016) in an accident on Route 126 near County Line Road in Plainfield, according to reports from the Illinois State Police and the Kane County Coroner’s Office.
According to a Coroner’s Office news release, coroner deputies responded in the early morning hours of Feb. 29 to Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora regarding a victim of a motor-vehicle incident. The driver was identified as Harold Fite, 45, of Plainfield, who was pronounced deceased at 5:33 a.m. at the hospital, the Coroner’s Office news release said.
An autopsy was expected to be performed today (March 02, 2016) by the Kane County Coroner’s Office. Toxicology samples will be sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis.
According to The Herald-News, Illinois State Police said the crash happened at around 4:41 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Route 136. Fite’s 2008 Chevrolet Impala drove off the road, where it collided with an unoccupied Ford F-150 pickup truck parked in a residential driveway.
