March 20 Fundraiser Will Support Family of East High Student Lost in Lake Michigan

Friends of Ivan Echevarria will hold a fundraiser on Sunday, March 20, to support his family. On Feb. 25, the 18-year-old East Aurora High School student was walking near Lake Michigan when he was swept into the Echevarrialake near Diversey Harbor.

The fundraiser will be held from 2 to 11 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, at Sierra de Aurora, 2121 E. New York Street, Aurora. The event will include dancing, food, and raffle prizes. The event is open to all ages.

The event will feature two DJs and local bands, including Santido, Fuerza Versatil, Resplandor, and Eskandal. Entry to the event is $10. Everyone participating, including the cooks and bands, have donated their time to the family.

About Ivan Echevarria

Echevarria was a senior at East Aurora High School. He had previously attended Simmons Middle School, where he was an honor roll student. Echevarria was the youngest of four siblings.

East Aurora High School staff members said Echevarria was a funny and friendly student. Echevarria was interested in working in information technology or as a mechanic. He was passionate about cars and computers.
