Cougars Introduce ‘The Fatty’ on April 7 Opening Day
The Kane County Cougars are introducing several new food items, along with some long-standing favorites, for the upcoming 2016 season that begins on Thursday, April 7 at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.
For 2016, the Cougars are debuting a new and improved burger dubbed The Fatty, sure to satisfy any meat lover. This masterpiece includes a half-pound hamburger patty topped with fried egg, jalapeno bacon, Monterey jack cheese, pulled pork, brisket and grilled onions. The burger will be available to fans at the Hot Corner, located on the third base concourse at the new Glenmark Burger Cart, for just $12. Also available at the Hot Corner this season, will be multiple infused burgers with classic flavors such as bacon and cheddar, mushroom and Swiss cheese, as well as asiago with sun dried tomato and basil.
An item that’s certainly a home run hit for the Chicagoland area is the Italian Combo. Fans can enjoy Fontanini Italian sausage, smothered with Italian beef and their choice of giardiniera smushed together in a French roll. Available at the Wannemaker’s Outside Grill, fans will also be enticed by the polish footlong, bratwurst and roasted corn served right off the grill.
Fifth Third Bank Ballpark is one of the only stadiums in the country that will now feature a gluten free cart for those fans that are health conscious. The cart will feature multiple classic Ballpark food items including hot dogs and chicken sandwiches as well as unique items such as veggies and hummus. Food selections at the gluten free cart will continue to grow as the season progresses.
The Strike Zone Ultimate Nachos, exclusive to the “Mueller Strike Zone” table seating behind home plate, features 64 oz. of nachos smothered and covered in nacho cheese, taco meat, salsa and the fan’s choice of jalapenos piled high inside a bright green Cougars souvenir helmet.
A cool breeze of Cougar Freeze is landing at the Ballpark this season as the Dippin’ Dots hut makes its triumphant return. Sure to be a kid favorite, Cougar Freeze features a colorful blend of lime green, blue and orange ice cream beads that will remind Dippin’ Dot’s aficionados of rainbow ice. The first team with their own signature Dippin’ Dots flavor, Cougar Freeze is also great for those fans that wish to enjoy a wonderful dairy free treat.
A local favorite that is sure to be a popular menu item, is the addition of Oberweis ice cream, both hand dipped and soft serve. Available at the Creamery and the Sweet Spot, there will be a total of eight flavors available with four of the flavors rotating throughout the season allowing fans to enjoy a new treat during each visit to the Ballpark.
Fans will continue to be able to enjoy the Raging Cougar Ale, the Cougars specialty beer created by Two Brothers Brewing Company. Described as a light and hoppy pale ale, golden in color with a nutty, caramel malt flavor, the Cougar’s became one of the first organizations in the 16-team Midwest League to feature their own branded beer last season. Additional beverages new to the Ballpark’s lineup this season include Blue Moon Cinnamon Horchata and Leinenkugel Grapefruit Shandy.
Other returning favorites will be the Ozzie Dog, which is a half-pound hot dog with grilled onions, located at the Fontanini sausage cart located behind home plate on the concourse level as well as the Super Nacho’s and margarita’s at the Hot Corner along the third base side of the concourse.
