Great Opportunity for High School Students: CMAP’s Future Leaders Program
Hey, Kane County high school students!
Are you concerned about having better parks? How about the streets in your community? Have you ever wondered why the mall is where it is? Why your school is located where it is? Do you wish someone would do something to make life better for you, your family, or your community? If so, apply to be a part of the 2016 Future Leaders in Planning Summer Youth Leadership Development Program.
The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning is looking for high school students who want to learn about its seven-county Chicago region while interacting with other students from Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties. CMAP is interested in your ideas about how to make northeastern Illinois a better place to live, go to school, work and play.
CMAP’s Future Leaders in Planning (FLIP) is accepting applications for its 2016 summer program. FLIP engages local high school students who would like to learn about planning and contribute to a better future for the region. This summer the program will meet for six days total over two weeks in July.
2016 FLIP applications are due May 2.
Please share a behind-the-scenes video of FLIP, along with the PDF application or online application form to students in the CMAP region. Questions can be sent to Ricardo Lopez (rlopez@cmap.illinois.gov or 312-386-8766) or Marisa Prasse (mprasse@cmap.illinois.gov or 312-386-8670).
Future Leaders in Planning
Future Leaders in Planning is a leadership development opportunity where students can contribute to a better future for our region. Participants in this new program will learn more about the northeastern region and share their thoughts with other teens from Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will counties. Participants will also meet and interact with selected regional leaders who make key planning decisions in our communities.
Apply to FLIP
Heading into its eighth year, CMAP’s Future Leaders in Planning engages local high school students who would like to learn about planning and contribute to a better future for our region. To enhance participants’ experience, starting in July this youth leadership development program will transition to a one-week summer format rather than its prior schedule of monthly meetings throughout the school year. Please apply online or share the PDF application, either of which must be submitted by Monday, June 15. For more information, contact Ricardo Lopez at rlopez@cmap.illinois.gov or 312-386-8766.
