Sheriff’s Office: Burlington Central Middle School Student Threatened Shooting
A 14-year-old male student at Burlington Central Middle School was charged with disorderly conduct Wednesday after making a threat to commit a shooting at the school, Kane County Sheriff’s officials said.
Sheriff’s deputies were notified at around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, by officials at the Burlington Central Middle School, 44W303 Plato Road, that they had received information from a parent that a male student had made a threat about committing a shooting at the school.
Deputies were informed about this threat as students were in transit to the school. As the school buses arrived, deputies and school administrators located the student’s bus and escorted him off the bus.
Deputies determined that the student did not possess any weapons, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The student was charged with disorderly conduct and turned over to his parents. He did not attend school Wednesday, and there was no disruption to school activities, officials said.
