Gardening Tips and Crawfish Boil at Upcoming East Dundee Farmer’s Markets

Sunday Farmers Markets held at The Depot on River St. in East Dundee will host a “Plant Your Garden” event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 15 and the popular” Crawfish Boil” on May 22.

With a donation of $1 to the Dundee Foundation, visitors to the May 15 market can fill their own five-gallon container with fresh horse manure for their garden. Another $1 donation  buys one bedding plant and used coffee grounds will also be available for the taking, as well.

East Dundee Farmer's MarketOn May 22 the Farmers Market will feature its annual  “Crawfish Boil” prepared by Ruthella’s New Orleans Cuisine.  Zydeco Voodo Band will entertain while visitors feast on the shellfish delicacies they’ve purchased.

The Sunday Farmers Market continues through September 25 and features some fresh produce; flowers; organic coffees; fresh made bakery items; as well as natural soaps and skincare items and other horticultural products sold by local farmers, producers and businesses. In addition, the Market will feature Dave’s knife sharpening services on May 15.

“We’re all about supporting our local farmers and businesses here in East Dundee,” said Village President Lael Miller. “The markets allow folks to come for a stroll, take in the various vendors and just relax for a few hours.  Our focus for the Farmers Market is to support good, quality farmers and vendors that have an ability to offer a nice variety of locally-grown products and services that are food-related.”

Free parking is available and markets are open rain or shine.
