Kane Business Owners: What Are Your Hiring Needs?
The Kane County Office of Community Reinvestment Workforce Development Division is asking local business owners and managers to take part in a survey to gauge local business needs related to hiring and employee training. The brief, seven-minute survey is now open and will close on Friday, May 27, 2016.
All businesses in Kane, Kendall and DeKalb counties are invited and encouraged to participate.
“The information gathered will be used to determine how the Workforce Development Board and its partners can best support employers in meeting their business priorities and employment goals,” said Scott Berger, director of the Office of Community Reinvestment. “So we’re hoping a lot of business leaders will take part.”
The survey is designed to capture opinions regarding hiring trends, skills gaps among job applicants and the overall quality of the local workforce. The survey is part of a larger planning process under way by the Workforce Development Board for Kane, Kendall and DeKalb counties.
The resulting four-year plan will guide the direction of workforce development programming administered by various agencies in the three-county area, including:
- Kane County Office of Community Reinvestment Workforce Development Division.
- Elgin Community College, Kishwaukee College and Waubonsee Community College.
- Illinois Department of Employment Security
- Illinois Department of Human Services Division of Rehabilitation Services
Employer input gathered through the survey will be an important factor in determining the priorities of the workforce development plan, which seeks to establish a demand-driven training model that meets the needs of employers and ultimately better serves local job seekers.
