Lane Closures Scheduled for Fabyan, Stearns Road Bridge Inspections
During the week of May 9, the Fox River bridges on Fabyan Parkway and Stearns Road will be inspected, weather permitting. Work at each bridge is anticipated to take two days, and a single-lane closure will be in effect.
Motorists are advised that traffic delays are possible, and should adjust their travel accordingly.
The Fabyan and Stearns Road bridge inspections are part of the Kane County Division of Transportation’s annual routine inspections. This year, KDOT plans to inspect about 51 structures and bridges throughout the county.
Kane County is responsible for inspecting and maintaining 65 bridges. KDOT must follow National Bridge Inspection Standards outlined by the Federal Highway Administration. The primary purpose of the FHWA bridge inspection program is to locate and evaluate existing bridge deficiencies to ensure the safety of the traveling public. All public bridges more than 20 feet in length are required to be inspected and inventoried.
Questions and concerns may be directed to Mike Zakosek, Kane County Division of Transportation, at (630) 584-1170.
