Sheriff’s Office Investigates Aurora Township Shooting
Kane County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a May 11 shooting that occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex located at 1601 Reckinger Road in unincorporated Aurora Township.
At around 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, Kane County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the Aurora Police Department, where two victims, both adult males, had driven themselves after they were shot. The victims told investigators they were seated in a car, which was in the parking lot of the apartment complex, when an unknown subject approached their car and started shooting into the car.
Both of the victims were struck, but their injuries were not life threatening. They were transported to Provena Mercy Hospital in Aurora.
Detectives were able to recover evidence of the shooting in the parking lot of the apartment complex. There are no subjects in custody and no suspect information. Investigators are still trying to establish a motive but have not ruled out that the sale or purchase of illegal drugs played a role in this shooting.
