6 School District U-46 Bands to Celebrate Nation’s Birthday in Kane Communities

Five U-46 high schools and one middle school will participate in Fourth of July parades throughout our U-46 community. This year’s marching bands will participate in parades in Bartlett, Elgin and South Elgin.

“We’re so proud of the dedicated students and directors who continue to work and perform throughout the summer,” said U-46 Fine Arts Coordinator Alicia Kopec. “It’s wonderful to see multiple bands take part in community events and share their passion for music.”

Band marchingThe Eastview Middle School Band will join the Bartlett High School Marching Hawks at the Bartlett Independence Day Parade that runs through downtown Bartlett on Main St. and South Bartlett Rd., starting at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 3.

“We decided to bring our two bands together to demonstrate the unity in the Bartlett-area band program,” said EVMS Band Director Alex Rivera who estimates about 150 students will march together. “It is a great way for us to give back to the community and show off our great band program while honoring America.”

The South Elgin Marching Storm will march in two parades, starting on Sunday with BHS and EVMS at the Bartlett parade. The Marching Storm will then participate in their hometown at the South Elgin parade, corner of Wedgewood and Spring St., at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 4.

“The Fourth of July parade is a fun event for the band students,” said Larkin High School Band Director Brendyn Dobbeck. “It’s great to be a part of the celebration and is a good way for us to support music in the community.”

Streamwood High School Sabre Marching Band and Elgin High School Maroons Marching Band will join the Larkin High School Marching Royals at the corner of Slade and Douglas Avenues, starting at 9 a.m. on the Fourth of July and proceed through downtown Elgin.
