Crack Attack! KDOT Begins Summer Work in Ernest June 6 With Crack-Sealing on 5 County Roads

You know the summer roadwork season is in full swing when the Kane County Division of Transportation team announces its annual crack-sealing extravaganza.

While “extravaganza” might not be exactly the right word, the crack sealing and routing work will include some semi-high-profile county roads and might cause a few minor traffic delays, it’s definitely worth noting.

Starting the week of June 6, 2016, routing and crack sealing will begin on Fabyan Parkway, Thatcher Road, Hughes Road, Montgomery Road and LaFox Road. Construction work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day for about four to six weeks.

County Highway From To
Fabyan Parkway Randall Road Western Avenue
Thatcher Road/Broadway Street Root Lane County Line Road
Hughes Road Illinois Route 47 Fabyan Parkway
Montgomery Road River Road Hill Avenue
LaFox Road Dillonfield Drive Keslinger Road

The crack-sealing program is part of the county’s comprehensive road maintenance program to increase the longevity of the roads by sealing road cracks preventing water from penetrating the road base and reducing the life of the pavement.

The above-mentioned roads will remain open during treatment but will be reduced to one lane of travel using temporary daily lane closures. Motorists should obey flaggers, watch for construction activity, and expect delays while traveling through the work areas. Motorists may want to add additional time to their commutes and consider the use of alternate routes while this work is being completed.
