Allen Road is closed to traffic from a half-mile east of Walker Road to three-quarters of a mile west of Harmony Road in order to remove and replace the existing bridge over Hampshire Creek, located west of the village of Hampshire in unincorporated Kane County.

Construction work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday through the end of September 2016.

The bridge and roadway improvements will include:

• Removal and replacement of the existing bridge structure.
• Ditch and embankment grading.
• Reconstruction of Allen Road in advance of bridge structure.

This bridge, originally constructed in 1945, is being replaced as part of the county’s comprehensive road and bridge maintenance program, which has the goal of providing a safe and efficient transportation system for the motoring public. A posted detour route will direct traffic around the closure using State Street, IL Route 72 and Walker Road. Local traffic only will be permitted within the road closure. Motorists should be advised to follow the posted detour route around the project and to expect increase travel times.
