Emergency Rail Repairs Will Close Randall Road June 20
The Canadian National Railroad will close Randall Road on Monday, June 20, to make emergency repairs at the rail crossing about 1/3 mile south of Hopps Road in South Elgin.
The road is scheduled to close at 7 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2016, and is expected to reopen to traffic at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2016. The posted detour route will use Bowes Road, McLean Boulevard, and Stearns Road to divert traffic around the construction area. Scroll down to see a map of the detour route.
“All agencies involved understand the significance of this road closure,” Kane County Division of Transportation officials said in a Tuesday news release. “Unfortunately, the urgency and nature of the repairs allows for few alternatives and very short notice to address this critical safety issue.”
Motorists should expect “extraordinary traffic delays” for the duration of this work on all legs of the posted detour route and surrounding roadways, KDOT officials said. All motorists who are encouraged to drive around the regional area entirely. Motorists who cannot avoid this area should add considerable time to their expected travel schedules.
