Jewelry Taken in Series of Aurora Residential Burglaries
Aurora police are looking for information on four recent burglaries that occurred in the same general Near East Side area.
Two of the homes, which are only separated by about three blocks, were broken into around the same times on June 14. One of the residences was in the 1000 block of Indian Avenue and was burglarized between 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; and the other in the 1200 block of Dearborn, was burglarized between 10 a.m. and 2:15 p.m. Missing from the Indian Avenue home was about $1,875 in jewelry. Nothing appeared to be taken from the home on Dearborn, but about $200 in damage was done by the burglars.
Around noon June 14, a witness reported seeing a white man entering the home on Dearborn and then leaving shortly thereafter. He was further described as 30 to 40 years old with a dark beard and short, dark hair. No suspect information was gained by police in reference to the Indian Avenue break in.
Police are also investigating a home burglary on June 10 in the 900 block of Solfisburg Avenue and June 9 in the 1200 block of Front Street.
About $6,700 in jewelry and Air Jordan shoes were taken between 8:40 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., June 10 from the home on Solfisburg; and a safe containing an undisclosed amount of money was taken between 12:10 p.m. and 1:45 p.m., June 9, from the home on Front Street. Those properties are also only separated by several blocks.
Around 9:30 p.m. the night of the burglary on Solfisburg, a man was seen getting out of a black vehicle believed to be a Mitsubishi Lancer that was parked on the street in front of the home that was burgled. The man, further described as Hispanic with a medium build and wearing a white T-shirt, black hat and cargo shorts, was last seen walking around the home. There is no suspect information in the Front Street burglary
Police have not ruled out that at least some of the burglaries may be related and are reminding residents of the importance of immediately calling 911 if they see any suspicious people or activity in their neighborhoods.
