Learn all about damselflies, dragonflies and darners on a guided hike as you watch them in their native habitat.

Damselflies, dragonflies and darners are key species in our natural areas, helping control harmful insects like mosquitoes. Take your children on one of two guided hikes through the woods as you search for these fascinating insects, learn about the vast differences between them, and observe some specimens up close! All ages are welcome to attend, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Organized groups must schedule a separate tour for their group.

Attend one, or both of the programs offered. The first program will take place on Sunday, July 10, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Dick Young Forest Preserve. The second program will take place on Wednesday, July 13, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Burnidge Forest Preserve.

Dick Young Forest Preserve is located at 39W115 Main St., Batavia. Burnidge Forest Preserve is located at 14N035 Coombs Road, Elgin.
