The men engaged in a brief squabble before Murry’s friends left to find him. The pair returned with Murry, entered the store and began to fight. No one was seriously injured.

During the hearing, Tegeler cited Murry’s extensive criminal history. Since 2006 Murry has been convicted at least 18 times for a variety of violent and nuisance offenses. Three of the offenses were felonies and 15 were misdemeanors. Murry has served three previous prison terms. Murry was eligible for an extended prison term because of his criminal history.

According to Illinois law, Murry is eligible for day-for-day sentencing. He receives credit for 209 days served in custody.

The case was prosecuted by Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Dawn Troost.
