John Martin Awarded Lions Club’s Highest Honor

The Geneva Lions Club, serving Geneva and St. Charles, IL recognized Kane County board member John Martin with the club’s highest honor, a Melvin Jones Fellowship, at the club’s 79th annual Installation and Awards Dinner held June 27 at Mill Creek Golf Club.

John Martin cbm_d11Established by Lions Club International in 1973, the fellowship is an honor granted to those who donate, or have donations made in their name, of $1,000 to the Lions Club International Foundation. Fellowships represent 75 percent of the foundation’s annual revenue.

Since its founding in 1968 the Lions Club International Foundation has award more than 12,000 grants totaling more than $900 million, in the Lions’ four key service goal areas of sight, youth, disaster relief and other humanitarian efforts.

In addition, Martin and Geneva High School Principal Thomas Rogers were recognized for 20 years of service as Geneva Lions.

Martin, now retired, is a founding partner and former principal with Huck Bouma PC.
