KDOT Will Put Steel Support Beams on Silver Glen Road Bridge Over Otter Creek, Starting Aug. 1
The Kane County Division of Transportation will be installing steel beams on the Silver Glen Road Bridge over Otter Creek, and the repair work will be done during four weeks in August.
The bridge repair work is scheduled to begin the week of Aug. 1, 2016 on the bridge over Otter Creek, located on Silver Glen Road about three-quarters of a mile west of Randall Road. The anticipated duration for the bridge repair work is four weeks, weather permitting. Work will consist of the installation of steel support beams, which is intended to extend the life of the existing bridge structure.
All bicyclists and pedestrians are advised to avoid the use of the area during construction for the safety of both the workers and the residents.
During the working hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, the contractor will be using both roadway shoulders along the bridge to temporarily store vehicles and equipment. Motorists are to be cautious and be alert for equipment within the roadway shoulder areas and the workers walking within these areas. Please obey all traffic control devices, and watch for trucks and equipment leaving and entering the construction site. Motorists should reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert.
As always, KDOT reminds drivers that it is illegal for to talk on a cell phone or text while driving through a highway construction work zone.
