Lanes Close Wednesday as KDOT Inspects Bridges in Geneva, Big Rock

The Kane County Division of Transportation will inspect not one but two bridges — one in Geneva, the other in Big Rock — on Wednesday, July 6, and drivers should expect some delays.

The bridges are:

  • Randall Road over the Union Pacific Railroad in the city of Geneva
  • Jericho Road over Big Rock Creek near the village of Big Rock

The work will require a single-lane closure between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday on both bridges. Motorists should prepare for possible travel delays, reduce their speed, exercise caution and be extra alert. KDOT officials ask that drivers watch for and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone.

The inspections are being conducted as part of the county’s ongoing bridge inspection and maintenance programs. Information obtained during the inspections is used to determine load rates for the structures as well as to plan future bridge maintenance, rehabilitation and/or replacement projects.

Questions and concerns may be directed to Steve Coffinbargar, 630-406-7170. For all Kane County traffic advisories, see this page on the Kane County Division of Transportation website.
