Road construction work is moving to the east side of Boyer Road and Huntley Road this week, the Kane County Division of Transportation reports.

Starting today (July 05, 2016), traffic will be switched to the west side on Boyer Road and on Huntley Road south of Boyer. Temporary daily lane closures will be required during construction, which is expected to be completed in three to four weeks.

KDOT is alerting drivers who regularly travel east on Huntley Road that there will no longer be a continuous green arrow for the right turn onto southbound Huntley/Boyer Road, as there had been for several years. Drivers should be aware of the change and prepared to make a full stop when the light is red.

During the construction period, KDOT asks drivers to watch for and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices and watch for trucks and equipment leaving and entering the sites along Boyer and Huntley roads. Motorists should be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, be extra alert, expect increased travel times and adjust their schedules accordingly.

KDOT officials remind drivers that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.

The Longmeadow Parkway Fox River Bridge Corridor is a planned tree-lined parkway and new Fox River Bridge crossing with a landscaped median, approximately 5.6 miles in length, running from Huntley Road to IL Route 62. The proposed road passes through portions of the villages of Algonquin, Carpentersville and Barrington Hills, as well as unincorporated areas of Kane County. KDOT officials say Longmeadow Parkway will relieve congestion, encourage economic development, improve travel options and connect towns and neighborhoods.
