Kane County Sheriff Don Kramer is rounding up a posse for a National Night Out extravaganza Aug. 2, 2016, at the Kane County Judicial Center campus, 37w755 IL Route 38 in St. Charles.

Sponsored by the Sheriff’s Office and Neighborhood Watch, the night of fun and educational events takes place from 6 p.m. t0 8:30 p.m. and has a theme of “Police and Communities Together.”

The night out will include tours of the Sheriff’s Office shooting range and an inmate cell block, presentations by the Kane County Bomb Unit, the Corrections Response Team, Court Security, an Honor Guard and the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit. One of the popular highlights is a chance to meet Deputy Nick Wolf and his K-9 Erin.

Also on hand will be representatives of the Kane County Coroner’s Office, Kane County Division of Transportation, Kane County Emergency Communications, Kane County Farm Bureau, Mounted Rangers and Kane County Office of Emergency Management.

There will be a moonjump and other fun activities for the kids, courtesy of Big Daddy Party Rentals, and if history repeats itself, a dramatic visit from the Superior Air medical helicopter.

Aurora Plans 32 Local Events For National Night Out

Neighborhoods throughout Aurora are planning events big and small to celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, August 2, 2016.

Billed as “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” National Night Out encourages residents to lock their doors, turn on their porch lights and spend the evening getting to know their neighbors, police officers, firefighters and other city officials.

“National Night Out is an opportunity to continue strengthening ties between our officers and our residents and to come together to keep Aurora a safe, peaceful community,” Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner said. “We’ve seen a tripling in participation by residents over the last two years. I encourage every Auroran to join one of the 32 local events and to continue working together in the spirit of partnership and goodwill.”

Elgin Celebrates With Neighborhood Block Parties

The Elgin Police Department and the National Association of Town Watch celebrates National Night Out annually, this year on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016.

National Night Out is a great opportunity for neighbors to get to know one another and bring more people into the process of preventing crime. Neighborhood Watch groups, homeowners associations, and any interested residents are encouraged to participate in this year’s National Night Out by sponsoring a block party from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2. Last year, more than 30 neighborhoods joined in the effort to make it a successful event.

Montgomery Police, Local Fire Departments Visit Multiple Neighborhoods

On Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, neighborhoods throughout Montgomery are being invited to join forces with thousands of communities nationwide for National Night Out a crime and drug prevention event. National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and co-sponsored locally by the Montgomery Police Department, will involve an estimated 40 million people in over 16,000 communities. This year’s event will reach out to all 50 states, U.S. territories, Canada, and military bases throughout the U.S. and around the world.

National Night Out is designed to: (1) Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, (2) Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts, (3) Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships and (4) Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

This year the Montgomery Police Department along with the Montgomery, Aurora Township, Oswego, Sugar Grove, and Bristol-Kendall Fire Departments will be visiting the following neighborhoods throughout the area.

Village of Campton Hills Presents 10th Annual National Night Out

The 10th Annual National Night Out in the Village of Campton Hills will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2. The location will be on School Street between IL Route 64 and LaFox Road.

National Night Out, in its 33rd year, is a national event which has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote community spirit and police-community partnership.

More than 25 organizations and local businesses will provide safety, health, environmental and community education. Simulated Firefighting, Hula Hooping, Facing Painting, Contests and Demonstrations will be available for children and families. Live animals will be on-site. Free snacks and healthy food samples will be available.

“This is a great opportunity for the Campton Hills community to meet members of the Campton Hills Police Department as well as the local businesses and organizations who support us and serve the community,” said Chief Dan Hoffman.

Algonquin Police Bring National Night Out 2016 to the Harnish Main Library

On Tuesday, Aug. 2, the Algonquin Police Department will bring National Night Out 2016 to the Harnish Main Library.

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live. Neighbors participate across thousands of communities from all 50 states, United States territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.

From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., police will provide entertainment, food, and fun, such as hourly raffles, “Cookies with a Cop” storytime, and the “Dunk-a-Cop” dunk tank. Meet dogs from the Illinois/Wisconsin Search and Rescue Dog Team and learn more about the team’s mission. Emergency response vehicles will be on display and grilled hot dogs will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
