Rosary High School Creates New Position of President, Chooses ‘Dr. Choice’
Rosary High School has created the position of president, and chosen the former president of Kishwaukee College to fill that role.
The Dominican Sisters of Springfield, the Rosary board of directors, faculty and staff announced Wednesday (July 13, 2016) that it will restructure its administrative team into a president/principal organizational model and has selected Dr. Tom Choice as its first president.
Sister Rebecca Ann Gemma, prioress general and member board chairperson of Dominican Sisters of Springfield, and Sister Barbara Blesse, vicaress general and member board liaison to the RHS Board of directors said in a Wednesday news release that the president/principal organizational model has been adopted by many Catholic schools across the country to address the numerous demands of secondary education administration and to properly lead schools known for academic excellence.
“This change will enable effective leadership for Rosary High School through the next generation of innovation and excellence,” the sisters said in a joint statement. “It is our pleasure to inform you that Dr. Tom Choice, the former president of Kishwaukee College and the past chair of Rosary’s board of directors, has been appointed by the member board as the first president of Rosary High School.”
Choice will begin his new role on Aug. 1, 2016.
As president of Rosary High School, Choice will work with the member board, board of directors, and Rosary’s administration to provide leadership, implement the strategic plan, and ensure the long-term fiscal health of the school. Sister Ann Brummel, OP, will continue in her role as principal and report to the president.
Choice comes to Rosary with more than 35 years of experience, having served as a teacher and administrator beginning as an English teacher at Marmion Academy in the early 1980s and culminating in his position as president of Kishwaukee College from 2007 until his retirement in December 2015.
“His expertise in strategic planning, fundraising and forging strong and enduring relationships with other educational partners, local businesses, and community agencies are essential for the future success of Rosary,” the news release said.
