The Valley Industrial Association is alerting Kane County job-seekers to a July 22 jobs fair at Smithfield Foods in St. Charles.

“Smithfield Foods is major employer in St. Charles and is looking to hire!” VIA President Cindy Tomei said via email.

The jobs fair will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, July 22, at Smithfield Foods, 3625 Illinois Ave., St. Charles.

Opportunities include entry-level production line and maintenance technician positions for the $14 billion global food company that employs more than 50,000 people worldwide. Smithfield’s website says the company’s perks include but are not limited to “the best safety record in the industry, opportunities for career advancement, and academic scholarships for your children.”

Production line jobs start at $14.40 an hour and are for job seekers willing to work the second shift. Maintenance technicians willing to work the second and third shifts.

Qualified individuals must have at least a high school diploma or GED, possess excellent verbal communication skills and experience working in warehouse/manufacturing operation. Some overtime will be required.

For consideration, Smithfield Foods asks job seekers to apply in person at the jobs fair, where you can complete an application and interview.
