TRAFFIC ALERT: IDOT Will Close Route 47 in Elburn For a Full Week
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced today (Tuesday, July 5, 2016) that a week-long closure will take place on Illinois 47 at the railroad crossing in Elburn, beginning Wednesday, July 6. The closure in necessary for railroad track maintenance.
In order to complete the work, Illinois 47 will be closed at the Union Pacific railroad crossing from 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 6 to 5 p.m. Wednesday July 13.
A detour route will be posted. Traffic on northbound Illinois 47 should go east on Keslinger Road, north on Anderson Road and west on Illinois 38 to reconnect with Illinois 47. Southbound traffic should take the reverse route.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
