Act Fast to Get a Spot in the Fall 2016 Citizens Police Academy
If you act quickly, there’s still time to register for the Fall 2016 Kane County Citizens Police Academy hosted by Sheriff Donald E. Kramer and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office.
The dynamic 10-week course is free of charge and provides citizens with an opportunity to learn how policing works in their own community as well as a behind-the-scenes perspective into the many facets of law enforcement.
Each course topic is developed and led by a seasoned sheriff’s deputy. Community leaders, teachers, neighborhood watch leaders, elected officials or students pursuing a degree in criminal justice have found this course to be an excellent resource. Topics covered include traffic laws, crime prevention, identity theft, scams and fraud, patrol, investigations, corrections, gang identifcation and more.
Fall classes are typically held from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, from Sept. 13 through Nov. 15 at two locations. Three courses will take place at Location No. 1, the Elgin Township Office, 729 South McLean Boulevard, Elgin. The balance of the courses will be at Location No. 2, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, 37W755 Illinois Route 38, St. Charles.
All Citizens Police Academy attendeess must successfully complete a background check. Registration is available at the Kane County Sheriff’s Office website.
