Aurora Starts Work on $525,000 Sullivan-Highland Roundabout
Beginning today (Monday, Aug. 8), the intersection of Sullivan Road and Highland Avenue will be closed due to construction for about eight weeks.
A complete reconstruction of the intersection will improve the flow of traffic with the installation of a roundabout. The $525,000 project will also include new curbs, gutters, concrete islands, storm sewer and asphalt paving.
During the construction, detour routes will be posted on surrounding streets, including IL Route 31/Lake Street, Indian Trail Road and Randall Road. The detour will be “Randall to Indian Trail to Lake Street and vice versa,” according to the city’s website.
The $525,000 project includes installation of a fully functional roundabout at the intersection.
