Cougars Offer Freebies, Drop ‘Lures’ at Aug. 28 Pokemon Go Night

The Kane County Cougars will hold the highly anticipated Pokémon Go Night at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, where they take on the Beloit Snappers.

Gates will open at noon, while fans will be able to participate in a pre-game session of “Gotta Catch ‘Em All” in lieu of the normal Sunday Funday pre-game Catch on the Field. The first 1,500 fans will be able to choose which team they support by selecting a pin for either Team Mystic, Team Valor or Team Instinct.

Cougars Pokemon BCougars’ staff members will drop lures at the ballpark PokeStops located at Gate 3 and Gate 1.

Trainers will also be able to access the Pokémon Go Gym outside the Cougars front office located next to Gate 3. A timer will be posted on the videoboard once the gates open and Cougars staff will monitor who controls the ballpark gym. After 30 minutes, the winner of the gym will receive a special prize.

Hunt for Pokémon at any Cougars game leading up to Pokémon Go Night and post a picture on social media using the hashtag #PokemonGoCougs. One lucky fan will be randomly selected from the entries to win tickets to the game on Aug. 28.

Fans are encouraged to dress in character and will be treated to Pokémon themed promotions throughout the night including “Pokémon Go Battle Balls” and “Eeveelution” as well as visits from costumed characters walking the concourse.

All kids, age 3-10, in attendance will also receive a voucher for a free hot and small soda. Following the game, fans of all ages will be able to run the bases.
