The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a single-vehicle crash in the early-morning hours Tuesday in Virgil Township that took the life of a 33-year-old Aurora man.

According to a Sheriff’s Office news release, deputies responded to a report of a traffic accident with injuries in an unincorporated area on Meredith Road south of McNulty Road.

An area resident informed deputies that he heard a loud noise and looked outside and saw the vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office said. There were no witnesses to the crash.

The initial investigation indicates that the driver, later identified as Rolando Tecaxco-Cuamani of Aurora, was traveling south on Meredith Road, and for some reason crossed over into the northbound lane.  The vehicle continued across the northbound lane of Meredith Road and eventually went off the road on the east side of Meredith. The vehicle struck a culvert, rolled several times and came to rest on its roof.  The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Kane County Sheriff’s detectives.

The roadway was closed until about 7 a.m. while the crash was investigated.
