Free Food, ‘Touch a Truck’ and More at Elgin Township’s Sept. 10 Open House

All Elgin Township residents are invited to an open house where the focus is information, food and fun.

Elgin Township Supervisor Annette Miller and the Elgin Township Board, along with Elgin Township Road District Commissioner Rodney Seyller and Assessor Steve Surnicki and hosting the event set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, at the Elgin Township offices, 729 S. McLean Boulevard, Elgin.

The township is providing hot dogs, chips and drinks. The Road District will be offering “touch a truck” for children and information on their services for rural residents of Elgin Township, and Tammy Town will be presenting a safety town, fun and learning experience for children.

Household battery recycling, used cell phones and flag disposal will be available onsite. Eyeglasses, hearing aids will also be accepted for the Lion’s Club, voter registration will be available and the Kane County Sheriff’s Office will be on site to collect prescription medicines.

Bingo games will be played in lower level from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with prizes sponsored by Elgin Township.

Agencies that have been invited to participate in this event include Boys & Girls Club, Centro de Informacion, Community Crisis Center, Ecker Center, Elgin Township TRIAD, Family Services, Food for Greater Elgin, Fox Valley Hands of Hope, Northern Illinois Food Bank, Northern Illinois Special Recreation, One Hope United, Renz Center, Senior Services Association, Inc., Veterans Administration and the YWCA.
