Randall, Kirk, Orchard, Fabyan, Silver Glen … Kane’s Premier Roads Set for 2 Weeks of Pavement Sealing
Segments of some of Kane County’s premier roadways are set for a rejuvenating facelift, starting Aug. 30, 2016.
And, of course, that kind of styling comes with a cost — in this case, about two weeks worth of lane closures.
The good news? With a quick scan of the chart below, you’ll be able to avoid any potential driving delays by knowing where and when the roadwork will take place.
On Tuesday, Kane County will begin the process of applying an asphalt sealer/rejuvenator on the county routes listed below. The roads have been resurfaced within the last two years, but the material that will be placed on the road will extend the life of the asphalt by reducing the water penetration that leads to freeze/thaw damage and by preventing oxidation of the asphalt material.
The process will involve spraying the rejuvenator liquid, allowing the liquid to cure, placing sand on the treated roads for traction, and then sweeping up the excess material.
This work is estimated to take two weeks, pending weather. Portions of higher volume roads (such as Randall Road and Kirk Road) will be worked on overnight to reduce the impact to the motoring public.

Roads will remain open but temporary lane closures will be required. Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas. Kane County Division of Transportation suggests you add time to your planned commute and use alternate routes whenever possible.
Motorists need to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution, and be extra alert. Motorists must watch for and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone. A reminder – it is illegal for drivers to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.
