POW! ‘I Will Give You So Much Love, You Will Be Glad You Brought Me Home’
- KCAC’s Adorable, Adoptable Pet of the Week (POW!) is written by Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control.
Age is an issue of mind over matter. If you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter.” – Mark Twain
My name is Lucy, and I’m a 13-year-old spayed beagle. I still don’t really know why my owners surrendered me to Kane County Animal Control except, I guess, I got too old for them.
Youth is such a brief and fleeting thing. I remember when I was a young pup myself, but time catches up and before you know it, walking long distances or going up stairs becomes a little more difficult. But that’s life, and I’m here to tell you, I still enjoy every minute of every day!
I’m fairly independent, and I love exploring my surroundings, wherever I happen to be. Short walks are great because I can put my nose to the ground and sniff all the wonderful smells of the world.
I’m definitely potty trained, and I’ll let you know when I have to go out by going to the door. I’m a passive, friendly girl and easy to get along with. I love people, and I probably would get along with another dog if they were like me, too.
I do have a heart murmur that needs monitoring every once in a while, but my overall bloodwork is consistent with how old I am. If you want to adopt me, I don’t cost as much as the other dogs because of my age. See, there’s some good things about growing older!
I’d really like to spend my remaining years in someone’s home, languishing on a sofa, watching soap operas, getting my share of gentle pets and hugs. I will give you so much love and so many tail wags in return that you will be glad you brought me home!
