• KCAC’s Adorable, Adoptable Pet of the Week is written by Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control.

Big is beautiful!

And that couldn’t be any truer than at Kane County Animal Control.

Meet Judy, a 5-year-old gray and white pit bull up for adoption at KCAC.

When you first see her, certain adjectives might come to mind, such as hefty, plump, chunky, chubby and roly-poly. All are certainly fitting words to describe her, but if you take a moment longer and spend some time with her, you will realize that she is so much more than just her size.

With a personality as large as she is, she will win you over with her goofy grin and her sweet disposition. She’s not afraid to throw herself into play mode with people or other canine companions, although she prefers to dominate the playing field. No shy or reticent friends for Judy!

She loves to go for walks and is definitely willing to get a big belly rub afterwards. When Judy is ready to settle down for the evening, she prefers snuggling on a couch with a few hugs and kisses thrown in for good measure.

Judy is the epitome of big and beautiful in every way and is patiently waiting for her huge and expansive forever family.

• George and John, the last of the Fab Four guinea pigs, found their forever family last week. Congratulations, little guys! No more hard day’s night for you guys.

These three have been waiting a family for several weeks. Won’t you consider taking them home?

• Long tall Sally, the brindle pit bull with a goofy grin, could be the perfect fit for your family.
• Renny,, a 1-year-old lab/pit bull mix is still awaiting his forever family to adopt him so he can have some fun!
• Doris, the 3-year-old brown and white pit bull with the “que sera, sera” attitude is waiting for her forever family.

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccines including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm. The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate complaints of neglected and\or abused dogs.
