As students return to school, public safety officials throughout Kane County are asking drivers to be aware of students walking to school, crossing streets and waiting at bus stops.
“Remember, student safety begins with roadway safety,” the village of North Aurora said in a news release. “Be sure to obey the speed limit and watch for kids in crosswalks.”
Drivers must always stop when a school bus is stopped to pick up or drop off students on a two-lane road way. Violation carries a mandatory $150 fine and automatic three-month driver’s license suspension, the North Aurora release said.
