Director of England’s Royal Gardens to Speak Sept. 20 in Elgin
Join Elgin Garden Club and the Gail Borden Public Library for a program presented by Richard Deverell, director of England’s Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
In celebration of Elgin Garden Club’s 100th Anniversary, Deverell will present an outstanding program on Kew Garden’s mission of using the power of science and the rich diversity of gardens to provide knowledge, inspiration and understanding of why plants matter.
The program will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, in the Meadows Room of the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin.
There is no charge for the program but registration is required by calling the library at 847-429-4597 or registering online at www.gailborden.info/register.
For more than 170 years, Kew has been one of the world’s greatest gardens, famous for its Victorian greenhouses and its eye-catching array of trees and flowers. Deverell will unveil exciting plans for the future of Kew Gardens, which has 1.5 million visitors a year touring its 326 acre property.
