Kane County has three weekday electronic drop-off sites: at 517 E. Fabyan Parkway in Batavia, at 735 Martin Drive in South Elgin and (after Monday, Sept. 26, 2016) at 900 Angle Tarn in West Dundee.

The county also holds scheduled recycling events at the Kane County Branch court, at 540 S. Randall Road in St. Charles.

Most electronics can be recycled at the events or the drop-off locations for no charge, but there is a charge to recycle television sets and computer monitors, according to the size of the screen.

It’s important to note that screens are measured diagonally. There’s a $25 fee to recycle each screen with a diagonal measurement of 20 inches or less and a fee of $35 to recycle each screen with a diagonal measurement of 21 inches or more.

Kane County Recycling Coordinator Jennifer Jarland strongly recommends recyclers pay the fees in advance.

“Paying and printing your receipt in advance will help reduce wait times and maintain a professional level of service at the one-day collection events,” she said.

Here’s how easy it is to pay the electronics recycling fee online.

STEP 1: Go to the Kane County Recycles website, click on “Pay online in advance HERE.”

STEP 2: Fill in the fields for quantity and size, and click PROCEED.
