Judson University is once again among the schools listed on U.S. News & World Report’s famed “Best Colleges” survey, and the university has garnered other distinctions in recent months, as well.

Judson University ranked No. 94 among the “Best Midwest Regional Universities,” according to the latest U.S. News & World Report‘s Best Colleges survey for 2017.

Collectively, more than 650 universities were ranked among four regional categories: North, South, Midwest and West. Judson appears among the 100-plus schools on the Best Midwest Regional Universities list alone. Like the nationally ranked universities, Judson and the other regionally categorized schools were recognized for offering a broad range of undergraduate and master’s programs, but the regional schools have fewer doctoral programs than the “national universities” ranked schools.

Judson has had a presence on the U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges list since 2005. It had been listed among the “Best Midwest Regional Colleges” through 2015.

This year, it moved from the regional college list to the regional university list. The change for Judson reflects the addition of its Doctor of Education in Literacy program, which was launched in 2013. The first class of this charter program will graduate next spring.

“Judson University is pleased to be recognized by other organizations as providing a quality experience for those seeking a private, liberal arts education,” says Judson University President Gene Crume.

In addition to holding a place on the U.S. News and World Report’s ranking list, Judson has earned national recognition as a 2016-2017 Christian College of Distinction. This marks the second year for the university to be recognized for its commitment to the four distinctions of: Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Community and Successful Outcomes by CollegesofDistinction.com. Since 1999, the educational website has highlighted excellence at student-focused higher-learning institutions.

Judson also remains listed as a Military Friendly School. This is a designation presented by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs magazine for military personnel transitioning to civilian life.

The Military Friendly School designation is extended to the nation’s top colleges, universities, community colleges and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace military students and to dedicate resources to ensure their success.

Enrollment growth at Judson remains steady. The total enrollment for fall 2016 is 1,286 compared to 1,279 a year ago. Judson’s traditional student population accounts for 787 of the total enrollment, including 42 more freshmen students this fall than in fall 2015.
