• KCAC’s Adorable, Adoptable Pet of the Week is written by Tecla Metzel of Kane County Animal Control.

Mr. Norris is a cat full of love.

He may remind you of Mrs. Norris, the sneaky, tattle-tail cat from the Harry Potter series, but our male version is the total opposite. A senior cat found as a stray, Mister Norris appears to be a 12-year-old Maine Coon with the temperament of a lover.

Pick him up and he immediately hugs you around your neck! He loves to get attention and snuggle with anyone who will let him. And in case your focus is elsewhere, he’ll remind you he’s still here with a little head-butt.

Mister Norris may be an older cat, but that hasn’t slowed him down. His lively motor is set to drive, which means he loves to play if and when his humans have the time. On the other hand, he is definitely content just hanging out and getting petted.

Make some memories and snuggle up with Mister Norris through the long winter days and nights ahead.

KCAC ‘PUPdates’

Every once in a while, KCAC receives updates on some of the animals that have been adopted from our facility. It’s always a wonderful gift when we hear back from the new pet parents on how their recent addition to their family is doing.

We just received a delightful letter from the family that adopted Payton, our former Snoopy dog!

Payton

Evidently, she is adapting well to her new home. In fact, her adoptive mom says that when she walked in the door that first night, it seemed as though she had always lived there. She loves her back yard and all her brand new toys! She even enjoys playing fetch!

Payton’s new family has put her on a diet, and she’s already down to a slim 38 pounds. Part of her healthy workout routine is going for long walks and chasing the birds down by the lake by her home. She never seems to get tired, and she’s always ready to go right back out again.

Her favorite part of the day is when everyone settles down for the night. Payton burrows down as far under the covers as she can and sleeps by her new parents’ feet, dreaming the dreams of a happy dog with a loving family.

The staff at Kane County Animal Control wish you all the best, Payton. You definitely deserve the wonderful life you have. And thanks for the update!

How to Adopt

All Kane County Animal Control adoptable cats and dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccines including rabies. They are tested for feline leukemia/FIV and heartworm. The adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $100 for cats.

About Kane County Animal Control

It is the duty of the Animal Control Department to:

• Ensure that all domesticated dogs and cats over 4 months of age are vaccinated against rabies and have a Kane County rabies tag.
• Ensure that all reported animal bites are given precautionary attention in relation to the possibility rabies infection.
• Ensure that pet owners are instructed on proper procedures pertaining to animal bites and enforce adherence to these procedures.
• Contain loose\stray dogs in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate nuisance dog complaints in unincorporated Kane County and those towns and villages with whom contracted.
• Investigate complaints of neglected and\or abused dogs.
