Pumped up to vote in the 2016 presidential elections?

Here’s a quick quiz to test your level of knowledge and interest:

  • Besides Hillary Rodham Clinton and Donald J. Trump, who’s running for president?
  • How many candidates for United States senator are on the ballot?
  • Who are the congressional candidates in your district?
  • What state races will you be voting on this year?
  • What Kane County races are contested on Nov. 8?

screen-shot-2016-09-26-at-10-21-53-amIf you don’t know the answers to one or more of those questions, the Kane County Clerk’s Office has some great online resources you might want to check out, including the newly released 2016 General Election Voter Guide!

Of course, the Aurora Election Commission is the primary resource for folks who live in the city limits of Illinois’ second-largest city, but the Voter Guide provides helpful information no matter where you live, including a sample ballot that shows all the candidates and referendums in Kane County.

This time around, voters will decide little things like who will be the next president of the United States, who will serve as Illinois senator, whether the U.S. House of Representatives will have a majority of Democrats or Republicans, and ditto for the state House. You can determine who will serve on the Kane County Board and a handful of other Kane County elected office, as well.

The Voter’s Guide is also a terrific resource to find out how to use the e-Slate voting machines, where and how to vote early, how to become an election judge and what all the numbers and codes on your voter registration card actually mean.

Below is a list of candidates who will be on the Nov. 8 ballot, which you can also print out for your convenience in English or En español.

Now, get studying!
