Randall, Kirk Lanes Will Close for Bridge Inspections, Starting Sept. 7

Lanes on two of Kane County’s busiest roads will be closed this week for bridge inspections.

On Wednesday, Sept. 7, anf Thursday, Sept. 8, Kane County Division of Transportation will inspect the following bridges:

  • Kirk Road over the Union Pacific Railroad (immediately south of IL Route 38)
  • Randall Road over Tyler Creek and the Union Pacific Railroad (immediately south of Big Timber Road)

The inspections are being conducted as part of KDOT’s ongoing bridge inspection and maintenance programs. Information obtained during the inspections is used to load rate the structures as well as plan future maintenance, rehabilitation and replacement projects.

The work will require a single lane closure between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorist need to be prepared to reduce their speed, exercise caution and be extra alert.

Motorist must watch for and obey flaggers and other traffic control devices within the work zone. Motorists should expect delays while traveling through the work areas. Motorists may want to add additional time to their commutes and consider the use of alternate routes while this work is being completed.

KDOT reminds drivers that it is illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction work zone.

Questions and concerns may be directed to Mike Zakosek, chief of design, at 630-584-1170.
