When the Chicago Cubs take the field for tonight’s historic World Series matchup against the Cleveland Indians, three former Kane County Cougars will be among those suited up for the fall classic.

Earlier today (Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016), the Cubs organization announced their roster for the World Series which includes Kyle Schwarber, Albert Almora Jr. and Willson Contreras.

Schwarber, who is listed as an outfielder, is expected to make his triumphant and highly anticipated return as a designated hitter in Cleveland or a pinch hitter in Chicago following his rehab from a torn ACL and LCL that he suffered in the first week of the season. Contreras will most likely catch for Cubs starting pitchers Kyle Hendricks and John Lackey in games 3 and 4 at Wrigley Field with Almora Jr. possibly seeing time in the outfield or coming into the games as a pinch hitter.

All three players dazzled Cougar fans with their talent during their time in Kane County and the entire organization wishes them the best of luck during their postseason run.

Tonight marks the first time that the Cubs will play for a World Series title in 71 years.
