UPDATE: Main Street Hill, Route 31 Lanes in Carpentersville Re-Opened Thursday Following Wednesday Truck Crash

Main Street Hill and one northbound lane of IL Route 31 in Carpentersville reopened at about 11:45 a.m. Thursday morning (Oct. 20, 2016) following a truck accident that occurred early Wednesday evening.

carpentersville_police_BadgeAccording to a Carpentersville Police Department news release and a Chicago Tribune story, an 18-wheel truck crashed about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday at Route 31 and Main Street/Huntley Road in Carpentersville.

The single-vehicle crash blocked northbound traffic on Route 31 on Wednesday, and traffic issues continued early Thursday morning. Police Chief Michael Kilbourne updated an earlier news release at around noon Thursday, saying the roadways were cleaned of spilled diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid.

“We like to thank everyone for their cooperation in working through this traffic incident over the last 19 hours,” he said.

Kilbourne said the truck and the equipment it was carrying had been safely removed from the roadway late Wednesday night, but additional time had been necessary to clear the diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid, which had spilled from the overturned truck. From any accident, serious injuries can occur, leaving the casualty injured or dead. If you or anyone you know has been involved in a truck accident in LA, after seeking medical attention, you could look into something like a Los Angeles truck accident attorney to help you recover the financial compensation you deserve.

“The spilled diesel fuel and hydraulic fluid created a slick and unsafe roadway surface,” Kilbourne said in the first news release, posted at around 6:41 a.m. Thursday.

The truck driver received four traffic citations as a result of the accident.
