97-Year-Old Woman Critically Injured in Thanksgiving-Night Hit and Run
Aurora police are hoping someone saw or has information on a Thanksgiving-night hit-and-run crash that resulted in a 97-year-old Aurora woman being critically injured.
The crash occurred about 7:55 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24, at the intersection of Asbury and Saratoga drives on Aurora’s Far East Side.
A 48-year-old Wheaton man who was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt told police he had just turned south onto Asbury from Saratoga when the offending vehicle, possibly a white pickup truck, veered into the same lane as the Cobalt and struck it head-on. The pickup was last seen northbound on Asbury.
The impact of the collision sent the Cobalt backward, where it struck a 2009 Honda Accord that was parked and unoccupied on Saratoga.
The 97-year-old was seated in the front passenger seat and suffered numerous broken bones. She was airlifted to a suburban hospital after receiving treatment at Rush Copley Medical Center. The driver of the Chevy and another passenger, a 73-year old-Chicago woman who was in the back seat of the vehicle, were both treated at Rush-Copley for non-life threatening injuries.
Aside from the vague description of the offending vehicle, police have no other information.
