Algonquin Launches New, Mobile-Friendly Website
The village of Algonquin has relaunched its website www.algonquin.org with a mobile-friendly design that meets all federal accessibility requirements and makes it easier for any and all visitors to get the information they’re looking for on the device of their choice.
“Our website is an important tool in our efforts to communicate with the community,” said Village President John Schmitt. “This redesign allows us to better organize and present information, creating a more transparent village government.”
The new site was developed with user-ease and services in mind, supported by analytics on user behavior when visiting www.algonquin.org. Users can make online payments and service requests, register for recreation programs and find information on village services. The site is more visually appealing, navigation is easier and the site is designed to enhance the experience for smartphone and tablet users.
“The content of the new village website is based on the needs of residents and other visitors,” Schmitt said. “It is organized by topic and provides multiple ways for people to find what they need in a convenient manner.”
Algonquin’s new website is also intended to make everything the village does even more transparent for the public. In addition to news and service information, Algonquin has posted several electronic documents from all of its operating areas — from budgets to permit forms to construction information. It all is part of the Algonquin Village Board’s goal of providing as much information on village operations as possible.
The village partnered with eGov Strategies, its content management system provider, to revamp its previous site, which was launched in 2011. Comments and feedback regarding the new website may be submitted to the village using the online chat feature located at the bottom of www.algonquin.org.
