Authorities Identify 2 Men Killed in South Elgin Route 31 Crash
The Kane County Coroner’s Office has identified the two men killed Sunday in a crash on Route 31 north of McLean Boulevard in South Elgin.
The deceased were identified as Mario Ramirez-Hernandez, 27, of Arlington Heights and Rohit Singh, 31, whose address was unknown, according to the Coroner’s Office news release.
According to reports in The Elgin Courier-News and the Daily Herald, the single-vehicle crash took place at about 5:45 a.m. in the area of Route 31 and Scott Avenue. Emergency responders found a single-vehicle accident with multiple victims. According to officials, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and hit two trees.
Hernandez and Singh were pronounced dead at the scene. A third man in the vehicle was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin.
Coroner’s Office. Autopsies were performed on Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, and the preliminary cause of death for both subjects is multiple injuries. Toxicology samples were drawn and sent to a forensic laboratory for analysis.
The South Elgin Police Department and the Kane County Accident Recreation Task Force are investigating the accident. The cause of death is under investigation by the Kane County Coroner’s Office.
