Fox Valley Park Foundation Awards $42K in Grants for Recreation
The Fox Valley Park Foundation this week announced eight grants totaling $42,500 to help provide opportunities for recreation through programs, camps and other activities. Collectively, these grants will enhance and help fund programs serving more than 7,000 individuals.
- Fox Valley Junior Golf Academy — $12,500
- Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies program for veterans — $7,000
- Jesse “The Law” Torres Boxing Club — $5,000
- Red Oak Outdoor Adventure Club — $5,000
- Sports Saturday Program — $5,000
- Summer Playgrounds Program — $4,500
- Summer Stage — $2,500
- Summer Playgrounds Police Picnic — $1,000
These funds were sourced through the foundation’s annual Golf for Kids fundraiser in June. The 2016 event raised more than $50,000 that will support recreational opportunities throughout the district.
The foundation also elected its new Board of Directors: Rachel Ossyra, chairman; Alex Alexandrou, vice chairman; and directors Cintia Abney, Kevin Fitzpatrick, LuAnne Kelsey and Joe Khouri.
