Polls close at 7 p.m., so get out there are get your vote in!

3 p.m. — How to Follow Along With Kane County Connects

Just FYI, here’s the plan for publication on Kane County Connects tonight.

We’ll post three “results” articles after the polls close at 7 p.m. — for state and federal races, for Kane County races and for Kane County referendums. A good idea, if you’d like to follow along, would be to bookmark those articles.

We’ll update those articles as often as possible Tuesday night, until the final vote totals are in — or we’ve given up due to exhaustion. 🙂

If all goes as planned, those results will be ready for your perusal in the daily e-newsletter that posts at 6 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016.

As always, the provisos: (a) These are unofficial totals, (b) gleaned from the website information that’s available and (c) subject to human error. As we’ve said several times, visit the Kane County Clerk’s Office results page and the Aurora Election Commission results page for the most up-to-date totals.

2 p.m. — Where to Find Election Results

As much as I’m sure you’re enjoying these updates, probably the info you’re most curious about is the election results.

One good resource is this page of the Kane County Clerk’s Office website. There, you’ll also see not only links to more info in Kane County, but links to results pages surrounding districts:

• McHenry County
• Cook County
• Dupage Election Commission
• City of Aurora Election Commission
• Kendall County
• DeKalb County

Tallying the winner isn’t always easy. For Kane County results, for example, you have to add the Aurora Election Commission totals and Kane County totals. For other offices that cover more than one county, it can get really complication. One example is the 14th Congressional District, where incumbent Republican Randy Hultgren faces off against Democrat Jim Walz in this election. The 14th District includes portions of Lake, McHenry, Kane, DeKalb, Kendall, DuPage and Will counties.

Noon — Oh, What a Beautiful Day

It was supposed to be a dark and stormy Election Day, but it’s turned out to be anything but that, at least here in Geneva.

Right now, it’s sunny and nearly 60 at the Government Center.

The hourly forecast looks good, pretty much through the voting hours (6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8).

11 a.m. — Election Hotline Open

Just as a reminder, anyone who experiences or witnesses any possible illegal election activity, such as electioneering, illegally placed campaign signs or denial of voting rights at any of Kane County’s 228 voting precincts should call the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office election complaint hotline at 630-208-5328.

10 a.m. — Celebrities Vote, Too

This from the Kane County Clerk’s Office Facebook page:

“Look who dropped in to do their civic duty and early vote — Donnie and Jenny (McCarthy) Wahlberg! Elections Supervisor Raymond Esquivel was happy to oblige.”

8:30 a.m. — Other Polling Places

Kane County Board member Kurt Kojzarek says lines appeared to be long early this morning in Virgil Township.

Kojzarek is a resident of Gilberts and representative of the County Board District. 19.

7:50 a.m. — Nagels Celebrate Voting

Forgive the personal post, but three of the Nagels had a chance to celebrate voting this morning with Dunkin’ Donuts and an “I Voted” a selfie. It was Tricia’s first voting experience. At left is a very proud dad.

7:15  a.m. — Geneva Polling Place, Chesapeake Commons, 1490 Geneva Drive, Geneva

Lines are not bad at all at the Chesapeake Commons polling place in Geneva. Probably a wait that’s all of about two minutes.

All in all, was glad I didn’t vote early yesterday, Nov. 7, 2016. The lines at the Kane County Clerk’s Office in Geneva were around the corner.
